What's in your water? Unfortunately, we live in a world where pure water isn't an option for most of us anymore. We drink our water from bottles and filter our water from the tap. We trust our water provider to make our water safe for human consumption, but what about for our fish? The time has long passed when we could just let our tap water sit for "24 hours" and have it be "safe" for our fishy friends. With Chloramines, Heavy Metals and even Nitrates in our tap water we can't afford to not use a water conditioner. Whlie there are a ton of options available today, we recommend Seachem's Prime. Seachem Prime: Prime is the complete and concentrated conditioner for both fresh and salt water. Prime removes chlorine, chloramine and ammonia. Prime converts ammonia into a safe, non-toxic form that is readily removed by the tank's biofilter. Prime may be used during tank cycling to alleviate ammonia/nitrite toxicity. Prime detoxifies nitrite and nitrate, allowing the biofilter to more efficiently remove them. It will also detoxify any heavy metals found in the tap water at typical concentration levels.
