Hi! I was rearranging a tank last night to accomodate (more) babies and I added a couple plants (one from the GPASI auction and one from another tank) and a few minutes later noticed a HUGE - like close to two inches long, bright red worm desperately trying to wriggle under the sponge filter (the tank is bare bottomed). It looked like a planerian type worm. I am assuming it came off one of the plants but I can't find anything about large flatworms in freshwater tanks. I have never seen one like that before and I don't know if I should be concerned - whether there may be more lurking about ready to eat babies or eggs. Current inhabitants in that tank are cherry red shrimp and livebearer babies. Any ideas?
could it have been a black
could it have been a black worm???
no, i don't think so
No, it was bright red and didn't move like a black worm. Glided along rather than that squirming motion of black worms.
